         Community Support —

In October 2014, A Child's Nature returned to the Pumpkin Festival in Milford with our popular "Feed the Chipmunks" game. Despite a slow rainy start on Saturday, almost 600 children enjoyed playing the game over the two days. We made about $400 and gave out brochures to many local families.

OTHER OUTREACH EVENTS  We maintain an information table in the hallway at Pine Hill, so it is available for performances and other special events at the auditorium, as well as for school open houses. At Pine Hill’s Holiday Fair  in December 2014, we supervised a play area for toddlers/ nursing mothers  and provided information on our childcare there as well.

In June, A Childs Nature was part of Wilton's annual summer festival downtown with a booth on Main Street.  Our tent included our popular “Feed the Chipmunks” bean bag toss game, sidewalk chalk drawing and other free play activities for children, as well as our information display table.  Over 75 children had fun playing the game; we talked  to many local families about childcare, giving them our brochures, and even made about $60.

OTHER OUTREACH EVENTS  We have also participated in number of community events in the 2013-2014 school year, providing a play space for young children and information on our childcare:  Pine Hill’s Holiday Fair in December 2013,  Mariposa Museum Puppet Show (Peterborough) in February 2014, Tots-to-Teens Consignment Event (Bedford) in March,  Pine Hill’s Open House  also in March, and High Mowing’s May Day Festival in May.

Successful Annual Giving Campaign 2013

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed for their wonderful showing of support to help develop our outdoor program at our new home in Wilton. The first annual giving campaign for A Child's Nature began in late spring, and in November we were so grateful to receive an offer from an Anonymous Donor to match up to $5,000. We were able to match $4,610, bringing our total Annual Giving Campaign to $9,220!
This financial support helps us achieve the goals we set forth for outdoor development but also gives our staff and board members courage to continue to make a place for respectful full day licensed child care. We are also grateful to Pine Hill for this opportunity and their contribution of a beautiful space to hold the children daily as a home away from home.
Providing quality day care and education for working families is so crucial for our community’s continued vibrancy. Within four months, A Child's Nature is now serving 16 children (seven Infants/Toddlers and seven preschoolers, as well as two of Pine Hill's kindergarten children in the late afternoons), and more families continue to explore our services. One family is changing schools for their child and choosing to have the whole family here on the Hill. A new job brings a parent to this area, and Pine Hill has the opportunity to serve their kindergartener and our center the youngest child while both parents work.
This spring will bring 20 children’s buckets and scoops, several swings, a slide and more sand. We will also build some raised beds for our flowers, herbs and small vegetable garden. We look forward to some natural musical play additions as well.  Thanks to all for contributing and joining our commitment to the sustained growth of our center as a unique, whole child program for families in the Monadnock and Souhegan regions.

“Feed the Chipmunks” Booth at the Milford Great Pumpkin Festival   (Outreach/Fundraiser)

In October 2013, our first booth at the Pumpkin Festival weekend in Milford was a great success. Children of all ages enjoyed tossing acorn beanbags into the open mouths of the beautifully-painted Big Chipmunk and baby chipmunk. We are so grateful to Paula Iasella, a Pine Hill alumna parent, for her artistry creating the game. Over 500 children played the game and were pleased with their acorn gifts! We covered the event fee and construction costs of the game which can be used for years, and we made $100.

Parfait Fundraiser at Children and the Arts Festival

In May 2013, A Child's Nature sold healthy yogurt parfaits in the Food Court at Children and the Arts in Peterborough.  We are grateful to the Temple Wilton Community Farm for donating all the organic yogurt and to Plowshare Farm in Greenfield for making the granola.  Parents donated fruit and supplies.  Parents, teachers, and high school interns made and sold the parfaits.  We raised over $500 and provided many families at the festival with a delicious healthy snack.

Organic Seed Fundraiser

In April 2013, Dr Stephanie Clark, a parent at the child care center and chiropractor (Back To Life Chiropractic and Alternative Services) sponsored an Organic Seed fundraiser.  Parents and teachers sold seeds from High Mowing Organic Seed Company in VT.  We raised about $500 to benefit A Child's Nature.

        Grants —

Our Board of Trustees is working on investigating and applying for outside grant support.
For our initial start-up, we are so grateful that we received a grant from the NH Charitable Foundation which enabled us to form this new non-profit organization.
