December Family Soup Night / Open House & Solstice Spiral Celebration

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18th, 5:30 – 7:30pm

Our family soup nights are a social time where our community gathers together at the end of the day to share a meal and get to know one another. Everyone enjoys a meal of farm-fresh vegetable soup and bread made, with love, by our Preschoolers.

In December following the shared meal, we have a seasonal story and then our Winter Solstice Spiral ceremony.  Guided by an angel, each child walks around a lovely spiral pattern of greens with natural objects and places a candle along the path, gradually creating a Spiral of Light.

The soup and story time are in the Sunflower classroom in the main Pine Hill building, and the spiral walk is in the Eurythmy room upstairs.

Anyone in the community interested in learning more about our center is also welcome to attend.

For more about our Solstice Spiral (and Saint Nicholas' visit), see our Festivals page.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th
8:45am

Traditionally, Waldorf schools throughout the world celebrate Michaelmas at the end of September. A Child's Nature families and teachers will join in celebration with the greater Pine Hill community on Saturday, September 26th.

We will meet on the Preschool play-yard at 8:45 and proceed to walk up to the main building together with Pine Hill Kindergarten and Nursery families. A beautiful pageant will take place outside, beneath the balcony near the upper field. Blankets to sit on are welcomed. Everyone is encouraged to wear yellow and red. Immediately following the pageant, we will return to our play-yards, and work together to weed, tidy, beautify and plant bulbs to enjoy next spring!

ANTIOCH FAMILIES JOIN US FOR THE MONTH OF JULY

Waldorf teachers-in-training with their little ones at our Bluebell cottage, summer 2014

Waldorf teachers-in-training with their little ones at our Bluebell cottage, summer 2014

Welcome to Antioch families; we are glad to have you with us. A number of children whose parents are enrolled in the Antioch Waldorf Teacher Training Program join our  toddler and preschool classes for the month of July.  The children enjoy playing with new friends, while the mothers  (some traveling from distant states) appreciate having good care right next to their schooling.
For the summer, our preschool is located in the Pine Hill Children's Village across from the pond.  The children get to challenge themselves with new climbing structures and play imaginatively in the big forest play area, find turtles and bullfrogs in the pond, and visit the cows and pigs at the farm right next door.
